Modern, relational therapy—tailored to you.

Trauma-informed therapy and EMDR therapy, based in Hong Kong

Welcome, I’m Alli.

I’m a psychotherapist trained in Canada and based in Hong Kong.

My life has taught me to appreciate how complex it is to be human. I understand how adversity can push us into survival mode, and how this can cause us to lose connection with ourselves and others during the times when connection is needed most. Complexity can have an isolating effect in a world that shies away from the more painful parts of the human experience. One of my hopes is that therapy can be a space that counters this isolation.

Trauma-informed therapy welcomes and affirms the most complex parts of our humanity.

Who I work with

I work with adults (18+) who are recovering from the impacts of chronic stress, repeated trauma, or environments that compromised their sense of safety.

My practice tends to be a good match for people who experience emotions deeply and have felt the need to hide, contain, or disconnect from significant parts of themselves in the interest of self-protection. I often meet with people who want to feel more at ease with themselves or in their relationships but find that the ongoing effects of past adversity are standing in the way.

Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ people wanting to explore, reclaim, or deepen their identity in an affirming space.

I specialize in helping people recover from:

Inconsistent, abusive, or neglectful childhoods

Systemic violations of trust and safety such as organized scams, spiritual trauma, or discrimination

Harms based on gender/sexuality such as harassment, prejudice, or assault

The unique grief that comes from a loss of personal identity or a loss of personal sense of safety

The physical effects of stress or trauma such as somatic symptoms and chronic pain

My approach respects the many different ways people adapt to repeated, difficult life experiences such as these. Even as you hold in mind what you want for yourself on the other side of recovery, there is never any pressure to move at any pace other than your own.

My background

I strive to acknowledge the many complex layers of people’s stories.

I am drawn to this work because of its complexity—it inspires my curiosity. To me, it is an honour to walk alongside my clients as they navigate some of life’s most daunting challenges.

  • "Alli has a natural aptitude for developing relationships with others, creating a safe and encouraging atmosphere with individuals, enabling vulnerable therapeutic conversations to take place. Alli has dealt with the most sensitive and traumatic issues with clients, and watching her navigate through some incredibly diverse and complex matters is quite amazing. Mostly, it is something that not every clinician is able to accomplish but Alli most definitely can."

    Dr. Timothy Woo, Clinical Supervisor

  • "Alli is so skilled at navigating the tension between encouraging clients to open themselves to therapy while giving them space to work through reservations they have. I have seen so many clients move from places of deep hurt, doubt, to opening up and then start going through healing. One vital skill Alli had was that she did not force clients to relive their hurts, but can be flexible to help them regulate their day-to-day functioning by focusing on forward-facing therapy... if that's the right term. I don't hesitate recommending friends and family to Alli, as she just makes me feel comfortable!"

Patricia Ho, Founder at Hong Kong Dignity Institute

  • "Alli is first and foremost, an excellent counsellor who is deeply invested in her clients. In her, clients find a safe space and a thoughtful, compassionate listener with knowledge of the impacts of trauma. She is committed to her clients' best interests and as such is open to collaboration and various knowledge transfer processes in pursuit of her clients wellbeing."
